Avast!

The use of computers and web has increased and it has really benefited us. Nevertheless, not all have been good and a threat called “VIRUS” haunts the dreams of every computer user.

Just last night, my cousin called me, seeking my help. Some virus had infected his computer and corrupted the OS! All his projects, games, music files, videos, etc. were lost in one go. Luckily, I had a copy of his projects and he was somehow saved…

Many of us have experienced similar issues despite having renowned [read PAID] antiviruses. I simply love my Avast Antivirus. Its interface is simple and its quite effective in dealing with the viruses.

It has been awarded the "Advanced" rating in the latest round of testing by AV-Comparatives and voted "Best Bet" by PCWorld magazine.

Here is a bit of information that might be useful for people who are in dilemma over the choice of an anti-virus.

Advantages of Avast Anti-Virus:

  • Its updates are very small (of KBs) and so it can be easily updated even with a dial-up connection
  • Its home edition is totally free. When your registration key expires, simply re-register!
  • It consumes less system resources.
  • It doesn’t slow down the system.
  • It provides many free services Real Time Protection Access, Webshield, P2P shield, etc.
  • It usually does not raise false alarms like many other antiviruses.
  • It doesn’t interfere with the system files.
  • The interface is user-friendly.
  • You can customize it through cool-themes or you can build your own theme.

Disadvantages of Avast Anti-Virus:

  • The Home-Edition doesn’t have Enhanced User Interface, Script-Blocker, Command Line Scanner, etc.
