Watching Flagged/Restricted YouTube Videos

In many countries, the governments have banned YouTube giving some damned stupid reasons.
They are mostly banned to avoid disputes arising out of some inappropriate content of the video or due to problem of distribution rights. If you try to access such videos, you will find the following notice - “This video is not available in your country” or something alike.

But there is no need to worry! Here is a little trick to get access to these sort of videos . The trick doesn’t require any software or tools!

Suppose a video is located at - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Abc (this link is just for example and it doesn’t point to any video).

Now what you need to do is remove “watch?” and replace the “=” symbol with “/”. Now the original video URL will be replaced as -

http://www.youtube.com/v/Abc

This trick also works if you happened to get the following notice for some video -

This video or group may contain content that is inappropriate for some users, as flagged by YouTube’s user community.

By clicking “Confirm”, you are agreeing that all videos or groups flagged by the YouTube community will be viewable by this account.

Enabling Right-Clicking

It would have been a common day for me, had I not been irritated by a certain website[I can’t disclose the name for legal purposes] which flashed a message every time I right-clicked!

It is quite common for webpages to disable right-clicking so that none steal their images, etc. This might be good for the webmasters but not so good for a web-surfer as disabling right-clicking, disables ALL RIGHT-CLICK FEATURES [like open in new window, etc.] & besides anyone can easily steal those images, etc. through simple tricks
[like the one for getting photos in an Orkut album]

It's easy to change, assuming you are using IE:

  • Click "Tools"->"Internet Options"

  • Go to the "Security" tab

  • Select "Custom Level"

  • Scroll down to the "Scripting" section

  • Set "Active Scripting" to "disable"

  • Click "OK”.

When you are done with right-clicking, simply “enable” it.

Copying Photos In Orkut

As Orkut has disabled copying photos by right-clicking, I’ve found other ways for copying them. To copy the photos follow these steps in any web browser:

1. Click on the thumbnail of the photo you want to copy.

2. Once you get the enlarged version of the photo, click on it and drag it to the address bar [i.e. keep pressing left-click and move the arrow to the address bar].

3. On releasing left-click, the address bar will have the link for the photograph.

4. Now browser window consists of image only. Save it as you usually do!

OR

[This trick has been tested only in Internet Explorer]

1. Click on the thumbnail of the photo you want.

2. Once you get the enlarged image simply save it [Be sure that “save as web page (complete)” is selected in the “save as type” section of the “save as” dialog-box].

3. You will get a folder at the location where you saved the webpage. The folders name will be the same as given by you at the time of saving. The image lies in that folder.

Threat To Web!

A new report on online security has brought to the limelight a new type of threat, to the internet, known as the DDOS-Distributed Denial of Service.
It is a cyber-weapon which is being used to shut down/close large websites by overwhelming their networks. In these attacks, computer networks are hijacked and data packets are spread all over the internet in a random manner which inundates the capacity of the networks of various websites and brings them down. This data-flooding is steadily on rise and has now even started to affect those organizations & operators which form the very backbone of the internet.
The only known way to prevent this attack of data is to have networks of higher capacity which would be capable to absorb the data-shocks generated against them.
Till then surf the web!
